Nursing Philosophies and Health Expectations

Nursing is an essential practice in our societies. New changes in the wider medical practice determine the effective of nursing. It is appropriate for clinicians to develop the best nursing philosophies in order to provide evidence-based care to their patients. Caregivers can also consider every component of nursing philosophy. The first component is nursing practice. I will embrace good practices and evidence-based ideas in order to support the health needs of my patients (Kim & Kollak, 2006). Medical practitioners expect every clinician to develop the best caring style. Clinicians can also adjust their practices and nursing philosophies depending on the targeted medical objectives. The second component of nursing philosophy focuses on the recipients of care. Most of these recipients include patients, families, communities, and vulnerable societies (Kim & Kollak, 2006). Nursing theories encourage nurses to fulfill the needs of these recipients. The other relevant component is health. A competent nurse will ensure his or her patients achieve the best health outcomes. Collaborative practice and leadership are “critical aspects of medical practices such as nursing” (Kim & Kollak, 2006, p. 68).

I will use the above components to develop my best nursing philosophy. Some personal values are critical whenever formulating a proper nursing philosophy. The first relevant value is confidentiality. My future goal is to support the changing needs of my patients. I will do so “without disclosing the medical information of my patients” (Kim & Kollak, 2006, p. 48). Clinicians have a duty to treat their patients with dignity. It is appropriate for nurse practitioners (NPs) to “embrace every good value such as honesty, courage, openness, and commitment” (Kim & Kollak, 2006, p. 57). The other value is the ability to take care of different patients. Professionalism is a critical value in every nursing practice. This practice will support every value associated with nursing care. Communication is also a good value for caregivers. Good communication is relevant whenever providing quality nursing care. I am working hard in order to provide holistic care to my patients.

Many caregivers “work hard in order to reconcile their personal and professional values through values clarification” (Kim & Kollak, 2006, p. 68). Professional values are necessary in every nursing practice. The first professional value is competence. The other value is the ability to portray the highest level of professionalism. A professional caregiver will always embrace the best nursing practices and ideas in order to help his or her patients. Leadership and teamwork are also necessary in every nursing practice (Kim & Kollak, 2006). These values will produce competent clinicians who can provide adequate care to their patients.

I will use my personal and professional values to develop the best nursing philosophy. Caregivers can use the above values and meta-paradigms whenever providing holistic care to their patients. My nursing philosophy is “to provide quality care and support to my patients in a compassionate manner” (Kim & Kollak, 2006, p. 85). I will always listen to my patients and their families with respect and dignity. I will also focus on their changing health needs. The four meta-paradigms of nursing are critical whenever supporting the health conditions of different patients. I will read more books to improve my skills as a nurse practitioner (NP). I will also support every person in my society. I will use evidence-based ideas and values to strength my philosophy of nursing.
