Requirements for work in the field of nursing are quite tough, and in order to complete all the tasks successfully and comply with this profession, it is crucial to devote much time to career development. Based on my past experience, I can see that my professional level has improved significantly, and I can perform more complex tasks. The professional values that we have studied during the training period have helped me to form an idea of nursing practice and learn about the basic ethical and professional principles of care.
Also, my attitude to the change theory is positive since this concept allows us to define the spectrum of work and the ways of achieving the set goals. Therefore, by articulating the knowledge, skills, and attitudes of the nursing profession, I can be engaged in the important process of promoting health among the population.
I began to understand the features of various nursing methodologies and approaches better and learned to distinguish among duties in accordance with priority goals. According to Tantillo, Marconi, Rideout, Anson, and Reifenstein (2017), traditional academic tasks assigned to nurses require not only professional qualifications but also other important qualities – countering stressors, finding an individual approach, supporting specific management approaches, and other nuances.
Regarding the latter aspect, I support the transactional model of leadership since it contributes to concentrating on current performance and motivating active work in relation to nurses’ immediate duties. Today, I see what management principles are the most appropriate for the conflict resolution process. Communication misunderstanding may be a severe obstacle to normal work, and the transactional style of leadership among junior medical personnel helps to resolve such conflicts by the timely identification of causes and the punishment of initiators. Such experience is certainly valuable and necessary in the process of professional growth and further education.

The experience gained can be a significant resource for the replenishment of knowledge and, as a consequence, career growth. By applying the skills honed in the process of interacting with other qualified specialists, I can develop my professional potential successfully and earn the trust of senior management. Over time, advances based on the effective discharge of assigned responsibilities may help to achieve promotion. For instance, when working as a nurse in one of the clinical settings for some time, I can prove myself as a responsible and executive employee who has the necessary skills and can apply existing knowledge in practice.
The management of the medical institution can entrust me with control over the nursing staff since leadership skills develop in parallel with other professional attainments. Having authority among colleagues, it is possible to establish a favorable working microclimate, which is also evidence of the competently organized mode of activity. Therefore, past experience is a good start for moving up the career ladder.
Connections Between Academic Experience and Real-World Applications
The skills that I acquired previously are not purely theoretical. Consequently, their use in real practice is a valuable way of realizing goals and achieving positive patient outcomes. As Melnyk and Gallagher-Ford (2015) note, the theoretical experience should not be separated from a practical one, and only in this case, real-world applications may be of high quality. After finishing the course of care for severe cases, I learned much about an individual approach.
In particular, these were the principles of patient-centered care and receiving a sufficient amount of information, I could distinguish among different types of practices. An individual approach requires a focus on the characteristics of each patient, while the traditional way of working involves the use of familiar patterns of care. According to Tantillo et al. (2017), professional values maintained by qualified specialists imply adhering to the most appropriate principles of providing assistance.
The complexity of the existing theoretical base and real skills is a good combination for conducting nursing interventions, working in projects and communities, and other activities aimed at promoting public health. Therefore, the use of past experience in real-world applications is an integral component of professional activities.
