In modern medicine, providing the best and most effective service to the patient is a very important aspect. Evidence-based practice can be the foundation of such service in nursing. It involves integrating the best available evidence with clinical knowledge and experience while taking into account the unique needs of patients. Using EBP means abandoning outdated methods of care and choosing effective, evidence-based practices to meet individual patient needs (Jolley, 2020). My field of nursing practice is interventional radiology. This field can also use evidence-based practice to achieve the highest level of patient outcomes. In general, evidence-based radiology is a decision that results from integrating clinical information to select the most appropriate imaging test based on the best available evidence, physician experience, and patient expectations. These tests are also performed in the practice of interventional radiology. For example, this may relate to the use of expendable resources when examining patients.
Thus, the use of EBP will ensure the proper use of resources, which will be of great benefit to all involved in the medical process. For patients, this means fewer examinations with ionizing radiation. For physicians, efficient use of the resource will reduce the workload of the examinations. Thus, everyone involved will benefit from the use of evidence-based practices. In addition, EBP can be used in interventional radiology to provide additional patient safety during the examination. For example, ergonomic solutions for patient protective clothing can be introduced according to this practice. Such clothing would be strong enough to protect particular areas that should not be exposed to radiation. Therefore, the introduction of EBP is not only possible but also necessary to increase work efficiency with patients in interventional radiology.
