The Chronic Contracted Frozen Shoulders: Assessment and Management

The study aims to investigate the clinical practice patterns of assessing and managing chronic contracted frozen shoulders in a population of physiotherapists in the United Arab Emirates. Numerous studies and related publications tend to confirm the importance of the topic under the current conditions, which justifies the relevance of the research. The disease is perceived as considerably harmful and relatively spread among the population in the country. The findings of the study support the use of manual therapy for treating patients with chronic fatigue syndrome (CCFS). According to the experts, this procedure can help improve the quality of life of those with the illness. The most cited symptom of CCFS was the limitation of movement. This finding supports the idea that when one has the condition, their shoulder mobility is restricted. Other challenging symptoms include the inability to fall asleep or wake up.

Education and advice were the main strategies that physiotherapists could use to improve their patients’ treatment. Other strategies such as home exercises and soft tissue massage were also suggested. According to the literature, soft-tissue massage is an effective treatment method for people with CCFS. This treatment method is usually utilized by people with acupuncture. It has been observed that the vast majority of UAE physiotherapists follow the same clinical practice pattern in terms of assessing and managing CCFS. This pattern is based on the evidence-based techniques that they use in their practice. The findings of the research are likely to contribute to clinical practice to a great degree. The study may serve as a foundation for further research within the scope of the topic.
