Description of the Community
- History. The history of Pinecrest started in the 1930-s when some popular tourist attractions were established on the territory of the future village. The attractions needed people to serve them, and thus, first houses started to appear on the territory. In the 19650-s and 60-s, it was already an unnamed community. After the devastating Hurricane Andrew that occurred in 1992, all the constructions we rebuilt. In 1996, Pinecrest officially became a village, and the first mayor (E.L. Greer) was elected (Milestones, n.d.).
