Summarizing Data from the Tables
Based on the data provided above, there is a strong tendency among nurses in the hospice care setting to agree that certification contributes to improved quality of care in the hospice setting (). Furthermore, there are strong indications that most nurses tend to believe that certification implies the presence of knowledge that affects the accuracy of decision-making.
Positive or Negative Changes
The main positive change occurring after the post-survey results includes a change in perspective concerning the role of certification in the quality of performance among nurses in the hospice setting. As emphasized above, the post-survey results show that nurses have accepted the importance of certification, which suggests that they are likely to accept the training as an essential part of their professional development.
Reflection
Overall Experience
Conducting the research required quite a large amount of effort due to the need to balance between the subjectivity in nurses’ responses and the evidence observed in and gathered from nursing practice. In addition, a range of nurses appeared to be hesitant toward providing their personal opinions concerning their opinions on certification (). Nevertheless, the overall experience was quite positive since it provided an opportunity to perform evidence-based research and contribute to the quality o care.
Summary of Outcomes from the Pre and Post Surveys
Whereas the pre-surveys indicated the lack of concern regarding the role of certification in nurses as far a the setting of oncology was concerned. However, the post-test results have indicated that a range of participants changed their mind.
Gaps in Project
The project contains several gaps that could be mended in the future. Specifically, performing the research in a cross-disciplinary context would have made it more complete. In addition, patients’ opinions concerning the quality of services could also be included into the assessment. Thus, the evaluation would gain another dimension, which would reduce the subjectivity.
Barriers to the Project
As explained above, reluctance among nurses, particularly, their unwillingness to answer certain survey questions, was one of the main obstacles faced throughout the research. Participation reluctance could be explained by the fact that nurses’ responses could have affected their perception in the workplace. However, due to the anonymity and the emphasis on information security, the reluctance to participate was finally overcome.
Implications for Future Practice
How could this project impact your professional practice?
The project in question provides quite a range of insights for the professional practice. Namely, the role of certification in providing effective care of the necessary quality has become evident. In addition, the reasons for the observed pattern to occur was finally revealed; namely, the research has pointed to the fact that new problems in hospice care emerge regularly, requiring that nurses upgrade their skills and receive full certification, signifying that they are capable of performing basic tasks and making decisions in the context of the hospice care setting. Therefore, the outcomes serve as the incentive for undergoing certification and acquiring professional skills and competencies to meet patients’ needs.
