An Elderly Person’s Health Assessment

It is required to compare the systemic changes in the patient’s body with those indicated in the instructions. György’s health deficiency, characteristic of the elderly, is deteriorating hearing and vision. Arthritis inherent in the elderly as a result of the aging of the circulatory system is also included in the list of György’s ailments. György does not suffer from memory loss which is a sign of aging, but he admits that he is slower to absorb and recall information, which also applies to old memories. Gaining excess weight never bothered the patient, on the contrary, he claims that after 60 years he lost weight, which did not negatively affect his health. Even though György claims that he is almost completely healthy, the following problems should be noted as a result of the examination.

Arthritis indicates inflammation and damage to the joints, which is expressed in an ache in the fingers in the morning. Decreased hearing and vision characteristics of his age can make it difficult to move and orientate in space. The inability to control the act of defecation or urination periodically manifests itself in the patient, but only during periods of intense physical exertion. Finally, osteoporosis makes it difficult for György to move, even though he can maneuver in space without third-party assistance.

Regarding incontinence of bowel movements, the patient requires corrective diets and probably additional muscle-strengthening exercises. Urinary incontinence can be dealt with similarly by exercising the pelvic floor muscles. In terms of hearing loss, the purchase and fitting of hearing aid could immediately demonstrate its benefits. Visual impairment in a patient may be associated with the formation of cataracts, which can be eliminated through a simple surgical operation. Exercising for vision and being in brightly lit rooms also helps to solve the problem. Wholesome nutrition can affect the production of vitamin B, which improves vision.

For the treatment of osteoporosis, which makes it difficult for the patient to move in space, calcium supplements will be useful, stabilizing bone tissue or contributing to an increase in its density. Controlling the diet and intake of vitamin D, magnesium, phosphorus, and protein also help in the fight against osteoporosis. For the treatment of arthritis, anti-inflammatory drugs should be prescribed, which can be applied intravenously, intramuscularly, or intraarticularly. In addition to medical practices, the patient may be prescribed self-administration of anti-inflammatory ointments or compresses with spirit tinctures, which reduce pain and swelling.

Speaking about the cultural implications of the selected course of health improvements, one cannot but take into account the patient’s love for Hungarian national cuisine. Magyar dishes, despite György’s belief that they have a healing effect, are quite fatty and use a lot of spices and fried oil. By replacing the most harmful elements of this cuisine with analogs, it would be possible to improve the patient’s diet without disturbing his eating habits.

Thus, György needs medical interventions for the following problems – the treatment of deteriorating sensory perception, incontinence of the intestinal and urinary tract, and diseases of the bones and joints. For each of these problems, it is possible to develop several medical practical interventions that will work in a complex way, eliminating inconvenience in the patient’s life. In this way, the patient’s daily life can not only be improved but also secured.
