Personal Leadership Philosophy
Core Values
My core values at work include responsibility and strategy. Leaders make decisions not only about their own actions but also about the team’s actions. Therefore, the ability to take responsibility is critical to ensure accountability and commitment. Additionally, strategic thinking is essential because it allows leaders to be more flexible and resilient in crises. This allows you to anticipate potential issues and develop ways to address them, speeding up decision-making and ensuring business continuity.
Mission
To improve the quality of healthcare services through motivation, collaboration, innovation, and expanding the professional competencies of the team.
Vision
To lead by example by continually learning and developing to adapt to the changing healthcare environment.
CliftonStrengths Assessment
My CliftonStrengths assessment highlights my strengths in individualization, arranger, strategic, command, and responsibility. Understanding others’ needs, emotions, and individual characteristics, along with developing organizational skills, enables me to effectively manage human resources while coordinating the interests of all stakeholders. In addition, a high level of responsibility and strategic thinking helps me make quick decisions and find solutions to complex situations.
At the same time, a flexible approach to management promotes critical assessment of situations and the identification of opportunities to optimize productivity and efficiency. Moreover, I exhibit a strong presence and decisiveness, capable of taking charge of challenging situations and making firm decisions. These strengths are key characteristics of my leadership that foster collaboration, drive innovation, and promote a culture of advancement and improvement in health care.
Key Behaviors
At the same time, there are two key aspects I would like to strengthen: increasing the inclusiveness of communication and facilitating knowledge translation. While my strengths of strong presence and assertiveness are important for leading a team, creating an inclusive environment is also of utmost importance. One of the main components of my mission statement is to promote collaboration and innovation. Considering different points of view, encouraging open and transparent communication, and giving and receiving feedback can help improve teamwork effectiveness. Moreover, it can strengthen the team’s culture of innovation through new ideas and solutions.
In addition, continuous professional competence development is necessary to provide high-quality patient care. Therefore, the use of evidence-based practices, grounded in the tracking and implementation of current research results and findings, is critical. However, the role of nurse leaders in this process also implies knowledge translation for the team (Chan et al., 2023).
I will expand my ability to facilitate knowledge translation by bridging the gap between scientific evidence and clinical practice. It requires constant monitoring of current research and knowledge transfer to the team, promoting a culture of continuous learning and stimulating the sharing of experiences (Chan et al., 2023). With this approach, my team will be able to implement best practices in patient care, improving treatment outcomes and satisfaction.
Improvement Plan
To address the identified aspects, it is necessary to develop and implement a comprehensive plan that incorporates multiple approaches. First, to enhance inclusive communication, I will employ active listening practices to better understand my team’s needs and interests. Although my individualization emphasizes empathy, open communication is necessary to establish productive collaboration. Furthermore, this includes providing and receiving feedback to identify areas for improvement. For example, the team can express their views on how they are working together and how they can improve it at any time, with the confidence that they will be heard.
Secondly, I will ensure improved knowledge translation by promoting ongoing education for employees. It includes organizing workshops with visiting professionals, training to improve skills, and providing access to necessary resources. Moreover, as a nurse leader, I must continually learn new information in healthcare and bring it to the team for discussion (Chan et al., 2023). This approach will ensure not only the availability of a theoretical framework but also its effective implementation in clinical settings. Implementation of this plan will help achieve personal vision, promoting a culture of collaboration and professional development to improve the quality of patient care.
