The purpose of this paper is to review peer-reviewed articles to get a better understanding of a relationship between nursing and evidence-based practice and to analyze the situation in one of the foreign countries.
It is necessary to understand that evidence-based practice consists of several components that would help to provide patients with high-quality services. An ability to take preferences of an individual into account is vital and could support the establishment of valuable relationships. Moreover, it is imperative to understand that new technologies and techniques are being introduced every single day, and some of them may be disruptive. A health care professional should keep track of trends in the industry to ensure that the latest available information is used to support the treatment. Furthermore, the implementation of evidence-based practice in all areas would help to increase the quality of health care significantly. However, the issue is that several barriers that could lead to severe consequences are currently present and need to be addressed. The issue that is worthy of a discussion is that nurse professionals have to deal with numerous changes, and it is likely that evidence-based practice may be altered in the future quite significantly (Miller, 2007). Also, another aspect that is worth mentioning is that the behavior of nurses also needs to change, and development of critical thinking skills is also vital (Fitzpatrick, 2007). The process of decision making needs to be based on best pieces of evidence available to ensure that treatment is successful, and any possible risks are reduced.
It is imperative to mention that the fact that every single health care provider should have an understanding of research methods to be capable of implementing evidence-based practice. The issue is that many individuals do not know what approach is the most efficient in a particular situation, and what techniques should be used. Also, it is paramount to understand that flexibility is of utmost importance most of the time and being able to utilize several research methods at once is an ability that should be valued. Another issue that should not be overlooked is that many nurses think that they do not have the time for research, and other activities should be prioritized (Tingen, Burnett, Murchison, & Zhu, 2009). Understandably, many believe that traditional approaches are much more efficient, but many new techniques that can be used to find all the necessary information have been introduced and should be understood by professional nurses. Also, it is paramount to note that nurses should be motivated to participate in studies and help with the development of new approaches that can be used to improve the quality of service. One should understand all the stages of the process, and why they are important. The necessity to identify the overall goal of a particular study should be taken into account because it is imperative to ensure that time is spent efficiently. Also, a professional will be able to see a connection between a study and evidence-based study, and the level of comprehension is critical in most cases.

It is necessary to note that health care systems in some countries are not as well developed as in the United States, but they frequently have to deal with issues that are quite similar. An article by Graue, Bjarkoy, Iversen, Haugstvedt, & Harris (2010) is focused on complications that are related to the implementation of evidence-based practice into the nurse curriculum in Norway, and advantages of this approach are also mentioned. The issue is that it is important to understand that the role of nurses has been changing over the years, and it is an aspect that needs to be considered by other professionals in health care institutions. Numerous external and internal factors affect an ability of the nurse to conduct research and utilize the knowledge that is gained, and it is necessary to promote an environment in the organization that would support such approaches. The authors suggest that training should be connected to the workplace because numerous organizational factors should be considered (Graue et al., 2010).
