Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) CDC is a federal-level agency that protects the nation from various health and security threats. Its scope of regulatory authority includes implementing regulations to protect Americans from foreign and local threats and improving public health security (Iskander et al., 2017). CDC’s role within the United States healthcare system is to detect and address health problems, use technology to prevent disease, and promote healthy behaviors and a safe environment for the nation. CDC is relevant to the APRN/DNP graduates as nurses are involved in the organization’s work on responding to emerging health threats and promoting safe communities. CDC is primarily relevant to the public health specialty area, namely, health promotion and disease prevention.
