The Role of Nurses in Telehealth Services

In order to ensure the effective implementation of the proposed project on the engagement of registered nurses in telehealth care provision, it is necessary to have a meeting with a representative of Santa Rosa Community Health Center (“Mission,” n. d.). One member of the team will also be present, and she will help with answering possible questions and explaining the details of the project. The representative will be informed about the results of the project with the focus on the benefits for patients, as well as healthcare facilities and medical staff. The challenges related to the project implementation and recommendations regarding the use of telehealth services in the facility will be addressed:

  • Benefits:
    • Increased coverage of older patients.
    • Less workload on Advanced nurses.
    • Registered nurses’ empowerment, their increased job satisfaction.
    • Decreased healthcare costs for the community and each individual.
  • Challenges:
    • The lack of training among nurses.
    • Low awareness of telehealth care among the target population.
    • Possible economic barriers due to low access to technology in low-income neighborhoods.

Recommendations

  • Additional training to the medical staff.
  • Closer collaboration with the community through written messages (leaflets, advertisement) and meetings (community nurse’s lectures, workshops, meetings).

The representative can be asked the following questions:

  1. Have you received any questions regarding telehealth opportunities or challenges from patients or other community members? Has anyone addressed the facility regarding the provision of more information or assistance related to telehealth services acquisition?
  2. What do you think about the results of the implemented research? Do you find the project relevant for the health center and the entire community?
  3. Do you have any concerns regarding the implementation of the project?
  4. Would you like to receive more data on the project or the use of telehealth care?

At the end of the meeting, it is necessary to offer the team’s help in providing a presentation for the committee or other stakeholders that can be involved in the implementation of the project in the community.
