This weekâs topic is about engaging with primary care physicians to make it easier to fill out all the forms required for admitting participants to ADHD. Community practice is conducted at an adult day care center. Primary health care is the service that provides a guaranteed minimum of medical care. It ensures its accessibility, complexity, and consistency of services to citizens and coordination and close relationship with other health services. The goal is to understand the work of this unit when dealing with such patients.
It is commonly thought that attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and hyperactivity disorder are childhood pathologies. However, they are also found in adults. At its core, ADHD is a minimal dysfunction of the brainâs hemispheres, which can occur even before a person is born (Fayed, 2021). ADHD in adults manifests itself in different ways, and the syndrome is not always accompanied by hyperactivity. The person who has such a disorder can lead a completely normal life and never know about this condition. Nevertheless, timely diagnosis of the disease and its therapy can greatly impact a personâs life.
Therefore, it is necessary to diagnose and accept patients with such a disease correctly. In the diagnosis process, a crucial factor is collecting information about appropriate indications in the patientâs childhood. In order to do so, a questionnaire is conducted for the admitted patients, as well as their family members and their close environment. Studies note that human health is laid down in the early stages of development and the practice of protecting the motherâs health in the prenatal period is of great importance (Edelman et al., 2014). Thus, when patients with this diagnosis are admitted, it is necessary to conduct an accurate analysis of their family background.
The process of identifying ADHD in adults can cause some complications, as the symptoms can be similar to mental disorders, such as depression or anxiety. If the disorder is suspected, the help of several specialists at the initial stage may be needed. Knowledge in public health aims to strengthen, preserve, and restore the health of the population and improve health care for the benefit of each individual and society as a whole.
