Hypothyroidism and Hyperthyroidism

The discussion post under review presents a thorough analysis of the function of the thyroid gland, hypothyroidism, and hyperthyroidism. The post makes it clear what causes hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism and how the conditions present. Nevertheless, the post would benefit from a mention that both conditions can be congenital as well as caused by other factors. In particular, hypothyroidism can be triggered by surgical treatment for hyperthyroidism, medication, and pituitary gland conditions (Taylor et al., 2018). Meanwhile, hyperthyroidism can occur due to masses within the thyroid known as toxic nodular goiter, viral inflammation in the thyroid, and overmedication with thyroid hormone (Taylor et al., 2018). In addition, the post could elaborate on the emotional symptoms associated with both disorders.
