Healthcare Policy Making and Implementation

A country’s healthcare sector is crucial for economic and social development since it promotes human well-being. The public and private sectors play a significant role in ensuring required resources are available for effective medical care. The government is involved in formulating policies that enhance quality healthcare. The private sector is majorly involved in the implementation of the policies. Disagreements between the representatives in government offices and the healthcare industry stakeholders encumber effective healthcare service delivery (Begum, 2022). Therefore, it is the citizens’ responsibility to ensure that the right people are in the government offices and that their voices are heard.

The majority of government representatives are democratically elected by citizens. As a citizen, I can take various actions to ensure that the right people occupy public offices. Firstly, I will exercise my voting rights by electing ethical and effective leaders. Additionally, I shall ensure that my close family members, friends, and community members choose the right persons. Public sensitization through social media platforms can help make the public aware (Walsh et al., 2021). Secondly, I will take part in public petitions seeking to remove incompetent leaders from public offices. Lastly, I will engage both players in the healthcare sector to understand the sector that is to be blamed for the disconnect. Consequently, I shall initiate public discussions on the ineffectiveness of the healthcare sector, and call for appropriate actions.

Technological developments have revolutionized freedom of expression through social media platforms. Therefore, I will take advantage of the public conversation on social media platforms such as Twitter to bring it to the attention of relevant authorities. My opinions on the platforms will represent problems faced by every citizen regardless of their race or cultural background. Consequently, the stakeholders can prioritize the interest of the public and not that of their specific communities. Moreover, I will use legal approaches to have my concerns heard. For instance, petitioning government officials may lead to mandatory court remedies. Therefore, public awareness, engaging healthcare stakeholders, and court intervention can help counter the disconnect between the private and public stakeholders in the healthcare industry.
