A nurse practitioner is a profession that has a special status in the nursing system that gives privileges and an expanding range of responsibilities when working with a patient. In order to obtain a special license to practice at this level, at least a master’s degree is required. Due to the high workload in this calling, communication is a necessary skill to make work processes more visibly streamlined and ensure that assistants follow orders as accurately as possible.
The very care of the client, which is the main task of a nurse practitioner in a patient-oriented medical environment, turns out to be smoother and more accurate if there is an opportunity to find a common language with them (Stein et al., 2022). Communication skills allow one to listen to other people, which is necessary not only for a more accurate diagnosis but also in order to build a trusting relationship with the patient. Based on the principles of the holistic healthcare worldview, the satisfaction of the patient’s needs can be achieved if the doctor’s speech is intelligible. This requires pauses to make sure that the patient understands the meaning of what was said, it is required to speak slowly and use simple, uncomplicated language.
Disruption of communication as an understanding between the patient and the practitioner is often the reason for the preparation of lawsuits by patients for violation of the rules of practice. In order to avoid such situations of misunderstanding of the harmed patient, such claims are usually prepared, as well as in order to obtain financial compensation for the injuries received. In cases where nurses or doctors do not speak the truth openly or try to mislead patients, this leads to problems in communication. There are also situations in which the nurse devalues ​​the worldview or family values ​​of the patient does not understand or refuses to understand the needs of the patient, which leads to accusations of bad practice.
