Aspects of the Nursing Program

Some of the tips that I will use to represent myself as a learner and health professional involve greeting my colleagues and introducing myself once everyone is seated. I will include my name, academic background, and interests in my introduction. While performing this, I will maintain eye contact, ensure that non-verbal communication is positive, address my audience with an honorific, use the right tone and thank all, and explain what will happen next.

As a nurse, my strengths include all the attributes that will make me perform my duties effectively. One of my strengths is excellent verbal and written communication skills, which I will utilize in communicating with doctors, patients, and other healthcare staff. I can understand and share feelings with patients, especially those in difficult situations, and help them manage their psychological issues. Moreover, I am flexible as my routine work jobs change frequently. At the same time, I am a good problem solver, as I need these skills to diffuse stressful scenarios in the workplace. Having the ability to work for long hours and having a positive attitude is a crucial strengths that I possess. Endurance will help me assist surgeons, lift heavy loads, and deliver babies that may take a prolonged period.

Some of the challenges a healthcare student might experience during the progression of their program include additional pressures such as difficulties in work-life balance, heavy workloads, and increasing risks of burnout. They may also encounter higher personality traits, resulting in distress, competitiveness, and perfectionism. Students may overcome these challenges by spending more time with their loved ones to balance social and professional life. Furthermore, they may dedicate some days off to relaxing and having a good time rather than worrying about work. Time management is essential in the nursing profession, where there are long shifts and little time left to oneself.

Nursing program outcomes evaluate what a process is to achieve, do or accomplish for its improvement. They address quantity, quality, infrastructure, fiscal sustainability, and growth. The program has helped me improve my electronic, verbal, written, and oral communication skills by learning the importance of active listening, body language, and facial expressions to establish rapport. I have learned that when communicating, I should use concise wording, speak with confidence, and be mindful of my tone. As a nursing leader, I shall rely on clinical reasoning and judgment by diligently gathering and processing information concerning the condition of patients before implementing any treatment plan.

In terms of accountability, I will be answerable to myself and others for my actions in my career. I will demonstrate ethical, legal, professional, and employee accountability. This entails working within the nursing scope of practice as specified by the state licensing board, using evidence-based practice in patient care, complying with professional standards, and staying updated as those principles keep changing. On the other hand, I shall apply empirical knowledge to develop abstract and theoretical explanations and structure my practice around a particular theory to guide my patient care.

When performing my routine tasks, I will be compassionate by showing personal interest, always acknowledging the feelings of others, practicing good manners, and taking time to care for my own emotional needs. To offer patient-centered care, I will first admit my clients’ stories, experiences, and knowledge and provide care that focuses on and respects patients’ preferences, values, and needs by engaging the patients more in the care process. To address patients from diverse cultures, I will strive to provide culturally sensitive by creating awareness, learning about other cultures, avoiding making assumptions, overcoming language barriers, and building trust and rapport. Education skills and effective nurse leadership are vital for strengthening efficient, safe, and high-quality care integration. It will enable me to create a positive working environment and promote positive patient outcomes and experiences.

To enhance interprofessional collaboration, I shall strive to identify the common collaboration challenges and address them by increasing mutual trust and respect among all healthcare team members. Understanding the implications of genomic changes related to common diseases can enhance the identification of individuals at risk for health problems. In addition, this will strengthen target risk-reducing interventions, improve prognostic and treatment choices, and develop individualized therapy. I will use information technologies, including computers, to quickly access vital data concerning the illness o health and treatment plan from the electronic health record.

I will serve as a scientist by identifying research questions, designing and conducting scientific studies, collecting and analyzing data, and reporting my findings. As a detective, I shall review practice-related complaints and investigate complaints related to boundary violations, drugs, fraud, and positive background checks. As a manager of the healing environment, I will provide compassionate-patient centered care by providing warm blankets for patients who appear cold and helping in every patient scenario.

Since the beginning of the program, I have grown professionally because now I am a specialist and certified in a specific area. I define nursing quality as doing the right thing at the right time for the right person and having the best possible result. Patient safety involves the prevention of errors and negative effects on patients. The professional certification program from the Institute for Healthcare Improvement establishes the core standards for patient safety, benchmarks requirements necessary for healthcare professionals, and sets an expected proficiency level.

I can evaluate the current primary research and apply the concepts to the practice by working as a research team member to coordinate and manage research, gather information, assure the well-being of study participants, and present at conferences. I shall promote the relevance and believability of data by keeping the information and records physically and electronically secure and confidential. Quality improvement activities are structured to generate immediate improvement in patient care, whereas, in research, there is no urgency to implement findings in practice.

Primary research is the closest source to the origin of the information, while secondary sources generally use analysis, generalizations, synthesis, and interpretation of the primary sources. The primary sources provide raw data and first-hand evidence; examples include statistical data, transcripts, and works of art. Examples of secondary research include academic books and journal reviews, and they provide second-hand information and commentary from other analysts. The primary research offers authoritative medical information on nursing, veterinary medicine, pre-clinical sciences, and healthcare. It helps nurses determine effective best practices and improve patient care. On the other hand, the secondary sources list, summarize, contrast, and evaluate primary information and studies to conclude the current state of knowledge.

The nursing program can help achieve excellence in evidence-based practice by identifying knowledge gaps, formulating relevant questions, conducting an efficient literature search, and applying rules of evidence to determine the validity of studies. After completing genomics, genetics, and genetics for nursing courses, the American Museum of Natural History (AMNH) certificate is obtained. The document plays an integral part in shaping the career of a professional nurse as it provides a nurse with the much-required information related to genomes and genes. The nursing program’s genomics, genetics, and genetics offer the social, ethical, and legal issues relating to genetics, which gives rise to genetics. Professional nurses who have successfully obtained an AMNH certificate will better understand diseases and conditions transmitted through hereditary characteristics and provide timely diagnosis and quality care to patients.
